Eric Kandel

Nobel Prize winning Neuroscientist, Dr. Eric R. Kandel to speak in Ottawa Dec 13, 2018

The University of Ottawa Nobelist Lecture Series presents

Dr. Eric R. Kandel, winner of the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine

The Biology of Memory and Age-Related Memory Loss

Eric KandelHow does memory work? Nobel laureate Eric R. Kandel has spent decades probing one of the brain’s greatest mysteries. The Columbia University neuroscientist and professor, whose work bridges psychology, medicine, literature and art, is internationally renowned for his research on the physiological foundation of memory storage in nerve cells.

Join Dr. Kandel on a captivating journey into the brain’s neural systems and the molecular mechanisms that contribute to learning and long-term memory. Discover how different systems are involved in the ways we store memory, from simple memory, for perceptual and motor skills, to complex memory, for facts and events. Find out how recent insight into memory storage is helping scientists understand major forms of age-related memory loss.

This event is free, but REGISTRATION is required.
